About us

The Trust was founded in 1993 by the late Jervase Chakumodzi in response to the plight of children he saw begging on the streets of Blantyre. From a borrowed army tent on rented ground,we have grown to a purpose built centre occupying three and half hectares.

Since we started, the Trust has reintegrated more than seven hundred children back into their families and communities. In 2001, we began the vocational skills training programme  which, has helped empower close to 200 young adults, giving them specialised skills and a chance of employment.

We raise approximately 40 percent of our annual budget within Malawi, and 60 percent from international sources. Part of our local revenue is generated from renting space to NGOs, a nursery and local businesses, selling bags made by our tailors and schools desks made in our workshop. We also run a local child sponsorship scheme and fundraising events such as golf and soccer tournaments. A recent financial innovation is the sale of some of our very fine, crossbred livestock raised on our farm.
